Currently, the most popular sliding doors are the so-called PSK (Parallel-Schiebe-Kipp-Tür – parallel-tilt&slide door). This type of construction is built using standard window profiles. Moving the sashes is possible due to a special fitting mechanism. After turning the handle from the closed position, the sash extends into the room, perpendicular to the plane of the window, and then shifts to the side. The doors also have the function of tilting the sash. The PSK sliding doors come in three basic variants of opening:

  • 2-sash doors – where the sash moves to the left or right fixed side.
  • 3-sash doors – where the central movable sash moves to the left or right fixed side.
  • 4-sash doors – where the two central sashes move to the left and right fixed sides, respectively.

There are also PSK doors in which the sashes move to the internal side of a building’s wall. This solution enables total window opening. In such a case, guides of the fitting mechanisms must be fixed to the window frame and internal area of the building wall. The frame must be mounted at a position facing the inside building wall’s plane. Maximal dimensions of the PSK door are approx. 1600×2100 mm or 1400×2300 mm. Advantages of such a solution are moderate price and high tightness.
